Dr. Evelina Weinstein graduated from medical school in the former Soviet Union. Her medical training continued on American soil, as she completed an internship in internal medicine, neurology and psychiatry at New York City's Columbia University in 1984. In 1985, she began her psychiatric training at Harvard University in Boston, MA, following with a fellowship in Consultation and Liaison psychiatry at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
In 1990 she founded “The Center for Progressive Psychiatry” in Chicago, where she practiced for over 13 years, helping patients with a variety of psychiatric and substance dependence issues. At that time, she began to integrate traditional and complementary medicine techniques that helped change many lives. Her strong background in addiction medicine has helped many in their battle with substance abuse. She is a firm believer in prevention and early detection. The sooner a problem is identified and addressed the greater the chances of recovery.  Lawrence M. Weinstein, M.D., is a psychiatrist with over twenty- years of experience in behavioral health and addiction medicine. Prior to joining Hythiam, Inc., in June 2006 as Sr VP of Medical Affairs, Dr. Weinstein served as Western Region Medical Director of PacifiCare Behavioral Health/United Behavioral Health. Prior to joining PacifiCare in February 2003, he was Regional Medical Director for Magellan Behavioral Health, where he also served as Medical Director and Vice President of Medical Services from March 1994 to June 2001. From 1991 to 2000, Dr. Weinstein was the Medical Director of the Chemical Dependence Unit at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Chicago. Prior to 1991, he was in private practice providing individual and group diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services as well as family therapy. Dr. Weinstein received his M.D. from the Ross University School of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency in psychiatry at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.
